The OCHS Regional (JV) Drumline and OCHS Percussion (Varsity) Drumline both competed Saturday, February 10th in their first Atlantic Indoor Association competition of the season at Woodbridge Senior High School.

After great success of the OCHS Drumline in previous years and increased interest in the program, a junior varsity drumline was created this year. This ensemble includes students from both middle and high school. For most members, this is the first time they have competed in an Indoor Drumline Ensemble. The group is directed by Garrett Ellinger, a graduate of OCHS and member of the drumline while a student, and assisted by Tommy Doss.

OCHS Regional Drumline performed “Outside, In” and placed 2nd in the Percussion Scholastic Regional A Division only .65 points behind 1st place. Their music and visuals were all choreographed by Tommy Doss, OCHS Drumline Director.

OCHS Percussion Drumline’s show is “Elevate”. They competed in the Percussion Scholastic Open Division and earned 1st place, 11.8 points ahead of 2nd place. Tommy Doss is the director of the varsity drumline and he is assisted by Garrett Ellinger.

The next competition will be Saturday, February 24th at Powhatan High School. This competition is a WGI event which will include ensembles from several different states.
