The Orange County Marching Hornets completed their competitive season on Saturday with a state assessment performance at Monticello High School and a competition at Powhatan. The OC Marching Band earned a rating of SUPERIOR, the highest honor available from the state. This rating is the first of two that will qualify the OCHS music department for their fourth Virginia Honor Band since 2013. At Powhatan, the band won 1st place marching, 1st place visual performance, 1st place general effect, 1st place color guard, and 1st place percussion. The band ended the day by winning first place in the AAA class. A very special congratulations to Zach Freshwater for winning first place drum major at the Powhatan Fall Classic. Congratulations to the Marching Hornets on another SUPERIOR season!
