Mrs. Brittany Shifflett, a third grade teacher at Orange Elementary School (OES), has been named the 2019 Orange County Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Shifflett, who earned her bachelor’s degree from James Madison University, is in her 9th year with Orange County schools.
“For me, it is and has always been all about the kids. They motivate me, challenge me to be better, and are constantly teaching me new things. It’s been my goal since day one to bring passion, excitement, engagement, and love into my classroom; to create a space that not only I am proud of but where my students want to come each and every day to learn, grow, and be their personal best. Working in Orange County has not only allowed me to do this but has encouraged me to do so as well. I’ve been extremely blessed to work with amazing families and colleagues who all have been so supportive of what I do”
“Mrs. Shifflett is the Teacher of the Year because she embodies all of the characteristics, skills, passion and love that we want in teachers for our students. Because she goes above and beyond to be innovative and inspire. Brittany Shifflett is a dedicated professional who works so hard to be the best teacher and school family member she can be. Her students will be better because they had her for their teacher” said Mrs. Sherri McGhee, OES principal.
