Orange County Public School Emergency School Closing Procedures

All Day Closing

Orange County Public Schools are closed. No employees shall report to work.

All school activities, day and evening, are canceled. No buses will operate.
Central Office, schools, and all support offices are closed. No employees shall report to work.
All nonschool activities, day and evening, are canceled including adult education, college classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings and school grounds.

All Day Closing

Orange County Public Schools are closed. Only essential personnel report.

All school activities, day and evening, are canceled. No buses will operate.
Schools and school division offices are closed.
Essential personnel as designated by the Coordinator of Facilities and the Director of Transportation will report at specified times to perform emergency services.
All nonschool activities, day and evening, are canceled including adult education, college classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings and on school grounds.

All Day Closing

Orange County Public Schools are closed. Eleven and Twelve month employees shall report to work.

Teachers, nurses, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, school nutrition, and other school level staff who work less than 220 days shall not report on those days which will be made up by students. However, the superintendent may request the above listed staff to come into work should we begin to utilized “banked time” and road conditions permit safe travel. Eleven-month service personnel who do not report to work will make arrangements with their supervisor to make up their time to complete their 220 - day contract.
All administrative staff and other service personnel may report to work two hours late.
School/central office custodial and maintenance staff shall arrive early to prepare for opening of administrative offices on a two-hour delay.
Annual leave or personal leave may be requested after the fact (liberal leave) by those unable to report.
All school activities and programs scheduled will be canceled. The Director of Student Services, Director of Transportation and the building principal(s) may determine that conditions permit the scheduled activities to occur.
All nonschool activities, day and evening, are canceled including adult education, college classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings and on school grounds.

Two-Hour Late Opening

Orange County Public Schools will open two hours late.

Students, teachers, nurses and service personnel who work less than 220 days shall report two hours late. All other staff shall report on time.
There will be no Head Start Classes.
Breakfast programs canceled.
Lunch will be served.
Regular field trips during the day are canceled. An exception may be made for trips and contests scheduled for after-school hours. Such exceptions must have the approval of the Superintendent.
Dismissal will be at regular times.

Early Closing

Orange County Public Schools will close one hour early.

The building principal will determine dismissal of staff.
Field trips and athletic trips canceled. No trips will depart after the closing announcement.
Lunch will be served. Alternate schedules will be instituted to complete lunch before dismissal.
All non-school activities, day and evening, are canceled including adult education, college classes, and recreational programs scheduled in school buildings and on school grounds.
