Locust Grove Elementary School was built in 1989-90 to serve students in the northeastern portion of Orange County. The building is situated on the edge of "The Wilderness" six miles west of the intersection of Routes 3 and 20. The school was constructed on a 68 acre site at an approximate cost of five million dollars. Locust Grove opened its doors for classes in September 1990 with 375 students in membership.
