Standards of Learning (SOL Assessments)
SOL Assessments are used in grades 3-12 for federal and state accountability.
The SOL tests measure how well students have mastered the knowledge and skills identified in Virginia's Standards of Learning, which outline the state's expectations for student learning in core subjects such as English, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
The SOL tests are used to evaluate the performance of schools, school districts, and the state. They are also used to inform teachers, students, and parents about students' strengths and weaknesses in specific areas and to identify areas where students may need additional support or instruction.
The SOL tests are an essential component of Virginia's education system, as they help ensure that all students are held to high standards and are prepared for success in college, career, and life success.
