Computer System Use & Guidelines

The School Board provides a computer system, including the internet, to promote educational excellence by facilitating learning, resource sharing, innovation and communication. All students and staff using Orange County Public Schools computers have agreed to abide by our Acceptable Use Policy. Policy GAB/IIBEA

Internet Safety & Privacy
Internet safety is important to OCPS.
In addition to our Acceptable Use Policy, OCPS has multiple measures in place that help protect children while using the internet within our system. In accordance with Va. Code § 22.1-70.2, Orange County Public Schools has included internet safety into elementary, middle, and high school curricula.
All internet traffic passes through an iBoss filtering device that allows us to block offensive material. Through our iBoss policy we provide blanket protection for children by blocking access to on-line chat rooms and other forms of direct online communication.
