Dear Families, 

Congratulations to our fine staff!!  ALL three of our program sites have successfully met Virginia's Quality Birth to Five (VAB5) expectations for Early Childhood Programs for the 23-24 school year.  This is a huge accomplishment for our programs and we are so proud of our team! 

Literacy is at the top of our list this year.  Enriching children with stories and language are the best way to increase language and knowledge.  Is your rising kindergartener aware of our 50 Book challenge?   At home help needed:  Please read to your preschooler every night, no matter their age.  Children who are read to regularly have better communication skills, can follow directions more easily, and have more advanced language.  Reading aloud to a child improves their listening skills, too!  

Head Start and Early Head Start Enrollment is continuing this fall! Registration for Head Start, Early Head Start, and VPI is going on now.  If you have a child ages 6 weeks to 5 years old, on or before September 30th, you can register for the this school year.  Applications can be found on this site under "Enroll now" or a hard copy can be obtained an any elementary school in the county. ALL information requested on the form must be turned in before we will process the application.

Non-Pricing Child and Adult Day Care Centers

Orange County Head Start  and VPI announces the sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The same meals will be available at no separate charge to all participants at each CACFP facility without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.

Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the agency (state or local) where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_filing_cust.html, or at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all information requested in the form.
